The Koehler Organization

As you know, the Dominican Sisters of Amityville, numbering over 500 women, began an educational ministry in Brooklyn, NY in 1853.  Over the past 150 plus years, a variety of ministries evolved enabling the Sisters to continue to reach the poor, the marginalized and the uneducated.  The Dominican Gala is an annual event that raises the funds needed to support the varied ministries of the Sisters, some of which include health and elder care, education, parish ministries, and social justice advocacy.

It is with a sense of deep pride that we invite you to participate in the celebration of the Dominican Sisters of Amityville’s 2007 Dominican Gala which will take place on Friday, October 26th at the Garden City Hotel.  This year we are happy to announce that our Veritas Award honoree is the Koehler Organization and our St. Catherine of Siena Award recipient is Sister Marie Aimee Koonmen, OP.

Sister Aimee has been the Executive Director of Bethany House for the past 29 years.  Bethany House affords safe, temporary housing to homeless women and children.  In addition to receiving shelter, the residents also receive needed services and access to a variety of resources.  What a powerful message Sister Aimee, her co-founder, S. Frances Anne Marrinan, OP, her Board of Directors and staff exhibit—we will promote the dignity of marginalized persons.

The Koehler Organization is an outstanding supporter of the Congregation. Through Dominion Construction Corp; Koehler Masonry Corp; Keyland Mechanical Corp; All Systems Precast, Inc., and Atlantic Crane, LLC—they have always been there for the Dominican Sisters of Amityville.

Last year’s Dominican Gala was a great success, raising over $381,000 for the Dominican Sisters of Amityville’s Ministry Support Fund.

We have already received generous commitments of support for Dominican Gala 2007 from Bank of America Private Bank; Cablevision Systems Corporation; Chem RX; Mr. & Mrs. Donald Eversoll; Farrell Fritz, PC; Koehler Organization; Pinnacle Associates; Scaturro Family; State Bank of Long Island and The Donald and Barbara Zucker Family Foundation.

We are writing to you now because you have been very generous in your support of our past Dominican Galas.  This year we hope you can again join us as a “Partner in Mission” at one of the following leadership levels:

    St. Dominic - $25,000

St. Catherine of Siena - $15,000

   St. Thomas Aquinas - $10,000

St. Rose of Lima - $7,500

St. Agnes of Montepulciano - $5,000

      Mother Josepha - $2,500

With your help, Dominican Gala 2007 will be a success both in sharing the story of the wonderful works of the Dominican Sisters of Amityville and, in raising the funds needed to continue our Mission.  You, by your participation as a Leadership Sponsor, will greatly assist in spreading God’s Word of compassion through the ministries of this Dominican Congregation in a time when it is sorely needed.
